ARCHIVED - Electricity prices drop to their lowest point since the start of the Ukraine war
The cost of electricity in Spain is still high, but today is the cheapest it’s been in six weeks
The price of electricity on the wholesale market has plummeted by 28% this Friday to 154.70 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), its lowest price since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began on February 24.
This March was the month with the highest ever cost of electricity in Spain, at an average of 523.32% more than March of the previous year and going up by 24% since the start of the war in Ukraine.
Inflation climbed to 9.8% in Spain last month, its sharpest increase in almost 40 years, and the average cost of the annual grocery shop in a Spanish supermarket has increased by 500 euros.
