Feb 3-5 Orihuela Medieval Market returns after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic
Last year, the Vega Baja town's much-loved market was replaced by a series of processions through the streets

Steeped in history, Orihuela's traditional and hugely-popular Medieval Market will make a welcome return next month following a two-year hiatus due to the Covid health crisis.
In 2021, the festival of colour, taste and smell was replaced by a series of processions, to the dismay of tens of thousands of residents and visitors who flock to Orihuela's historic centre for three days of music, dance, theatre, workshops on ancient crafts and more.
In a radio interview, the Councillor for Festivities at Orihuela Town Hall, Antonio Sanchez, confirmed that the market will be held on February 3, 4 and 5 (dates could change) with an extended route to the Plaza de Santiago.

The fair dates back to 1310 when King Alfonso X El Sabio granted authorisation for Orhuela Council to stage the annual event, and is held three weeks after the San Antón fiestas.
