February 23 to March 17 Lorca gastronomic festival celebrates locally grown artichokes
Artichoke dishes at 30 bars and restaurants in Lorca!
The latest gastronomic event sponsored by the Town Hall of Lorca consists of two weeks celebrating the locally grown artichokes.
Artichokes may not be everybody’s favourite, but they are a remarkably successful crop in Murcia, where more of them are grown than in any other region of Spain. Murcia accounts for 30 per cent of Spain’s artichoke exports (60 per cent of the artichoke fields are in the Guadalentín valley, around Lorca) and the vegetable is much used in the regional cuisine, as is demonstrated by the fact that around 30 restaurants and bars and taking part in the “Jornadas Gastronómicas de la Alcachofa”.
These establishments are Gastrobar Cañarejo, Cervecería Las Columnas, the Parador hotel, Restaurante Caballerizas del Castillo in Lorca castle, Tres by Keki, Taberna La Cepa, Mesón Lorquino, Restaurante Paredes, La Mafia se Sienta a la Mesa, Asador Murciano, Pizzería D’Antojo, La Alacena de Braulio, Temperato Felice Gelato, Restaurante Los Cazorlos, Bar España, Phelans Irish Pub, El Parloteo, Restaurante Polonia, Venta Cristóbal, Axo Restaurante, Mirrin, Escuela de Hostelería ÍES San Juan Bosco, Cafetería Expresso, Chiringuito Marinero, Restaurante La Peña, Asador La Negrita, Cuatro Bellotas, Restaurante La Copla and Casa Roberto.
At all of them customers are invited to enjoy specially prepared dishes featured during this event, with participants eligible to enter a prize draw for a 100-euro “gastronomic experience”.
