Cehegín is a historic old town, located in the North-west of the Region of Murcia, and not only the town itself, but the surrounding countryside are worth exploring.
Cehegín is most famous for its Begastri Visigoth archaeological site, but also has a fascinating old quarter, with many historical family palaces and churches, including the archaeological museum.
The town is on the Via Verde route and is a useful stop-over point for visitors to Caravaca de la Cruz during fiestas when Caravaca is full, or for exploring the North-west. The council run a good number of activities throughout the year and there is also a monthly artesan on the last Sunday of every month in Cehegín apart from during the hottest months of the year. There are also some interesting walks around the area, including those along the Vía Verde itself.
Cehegín has several fiestas and a busy cultural and sporting programme throughout the year, including the bull runs, or encierros.
The tourist office will be happy to assist groups wishing to organise visits to the town, or find accommodation for visitors.
