February 4 and 5 Spring blossom fair in western Cartagena
Guided walks and workshops in the countryside of Tallante and Los Puertos de Santa Bárbara
The first ever “Feria de la Floración Cartagena Oeste”, celebrating the arrival of almond blossom in the countryside, is being held in Tallante and Los Puertos de Santa Bárbara on February 4 and 5, featuring guided walks, a gathering of traditional “cuadrilla” folk music and dancing groups, a market, a photography competition and a prize giving ceremony to award the “Garbancillo de Oro”, named after the unique Tallente pea-flower species.
The easy ethnographic walks are organized by SOLDECOCOS and are all categorized as easy, and will be based in Los Puertos de Santa Bárbara on Saturday February 4 and in Tallante the following day. Coach transport is available from Cartagena, with bookings necessary at info.soldecocosterrestre@gmail.com.
The photography competition is open until February 20 and competitors should send their snaps (unsigned) to juntavecinalperin@gmail.com, attaching an ID document and details of the entrant’s name. At stake is a handsome trophy!
The Garbancillo de Oro is being awarded to María Gómez García, Club Deportivo Manzanicos, Sociedad Cazadores de Perín and Mujeres de El Portús.
