ARCHIVED - First large-scale vaccination point opens in Benalmadena
The Andalucia Health Service is vaccinating locals of Benalmadena, Malaga, after opening the area’s first large-scale vaccination centre.
Andalucia’s vaccination programme continues to speed up with the opening of a further large-scale vaccination centre at Benalmadena’s hospital.
The new point will be able to administer up to 1,500 doses a day as part of a plan by health officials to give at least one dose of the vaccine to 70 per cent of residents in Andalucia by the end of June.
The hospital will be administering doses every day of the week in the morning and afternoon, with around 700 to 1,000 doses daily initially working towards the goal of administer 1,500 daily at the centre.
Health officials are now encouraging locals to request their appointment to receive their jab and are offering free outdoor and underground parking at the hospital for those being vaccinated.
The new vaccination point in Benalmadena is one of eight large-scale centres across the Costa del Sol as officials work to roll out jabs before the arrival of the summer.
Despite the success of the area’s vaccination roll out however, officials are urging locals to comply with health measures after figures across Andalucia rose last month, prompting a delay in the region’s de-escalation plan and concerns over the reopening of tourism.
