Fisherman arrested for sexually assaulting British tourist in Mallorca
The inebriated sailor attacked the 21-year-old near her holiday home in Port d’Andratx
A fisherman was arrested on Monday August 12 in the pretty village of Port d’Andratx in Mallorca for sexually assaulting a 21-year-old British holidaymaker.
The incident took place during the early hours of August 7. According to the Guardia Civil, the young tourist had enjoyed a few drinks with friends in the port and was approached by her attacker between 3.30am and 4am while she was walking towards her holiday home.
The victim told police that the fisherman was clearly drunk and, after trying to engage her in conversation, he sexually assaulted her by inserting his fingers into her genitals. The British woman finally managed to escape and reported the attack to the Guardia Civil.
Thankfully, the tourist was able to provide a detailed description of the man and, after interviewing members of the Andratx Fishermen’s Guild, officers were able to positively identify the perpetrator.
The 40-year-old alleged attacker, originally from Senegal, was arrested on his boat at around five in the morning as he was preparing to go out fishing.
