Food trucks, Christmas market and more in Murcia city
Murcia has a range of festive treats for the whole family to enjoy
Christmas is now only a few weeks away and even closer is the big switch-on in Murcia, when the city streets will be thronged with families eagerly awaiting the moment the skies are illuminated with the festive lights.
Making a big come-back this year is Murcia’s much-loved giant Christmas, which has been missing in action since the height of the coronavirus pandemic in 2021. At the time, the decision was taken to leave the massive fir out of the decorations so as not to draw crowds, but it will return with a bang to Plaza Circular in 2023.
According to the City Council, more than 400,000 people flocked to see the Great Christmas Tree the last time it was installed, which was in 2020.
But this year, Murcia city will be more festive than ever as an entire Christmas Park will be set up in the Plaza. Here locals and visitors will find delights for all ages, including concerts, children's activities, workshops, audiovisual shows, a Christmas market, food trucks, a photo booth, a giant Nativity Scene and, of course, the all-important Three King’s Mailbox, where kids can post their Christmas lists.
The Christmas lights in the city centre are being switched on this Friday November 24 at 8pm, and the big switching-on ceremony will take place in the Plaza de la Cruz.
