ARCHIVED - Food for thought: a subliminal message on a Spanish road
The Guardia Civil has sent out a tweet which seems to have hit a chord with drivers in Spain showing a thought-provoking road sign coincidence.
A message posted on Twitter by the Guardia Civil above a photograph of two road signs has certainly got drivers in Spain thinking about their safety just ahead of what is normally one of the busiest weekends on the road in Spain.
“Sometimes, the whims of chance send you subliminal messages that could save your life. Don't gamble on the roads,” reads the post, over a picture that shows a sign marking the end of a dangerous stretch of road with a cemetery sign attached to one of its posts.
The blunt but to the point publication reminds drivers that taking risks anywhere on the roads, but particularly in notoriously dangerous areas or conditions, could well be fateful.
Even though covid will limit the amount of longer-distance journeys this next weekend, millions will still take to the roads, many with their families on board and if the road traffic statistics of previous Easter holiday periods are anything to go by, somewhere in Spain, some motorists will be taking a one-way ticket directly to the cemetery.
