ARCHIVED - Galicia nightlife venues hold successful re-opening trial run
Six night-life venues in A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela, Pontevedra, Vigo, Lugo and Ourense re-opened at the weekend under strict Covid-19 safety protocols
As the vaccination campaign progresses and life begins to resume some resemblance of normality in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, six discos and nightclubs in Galicia took part in a trial this weekend with an aim to re-opening venues under safe conditions.
The managers of the venues, which included two large discos (Pelícano in A Coruña and Sala Sónar in Santiago), said that the results of the test had been very good and that although attendees were clearly eager to party and a few had to be reminded to keep their masks on as the evening progressed, everyone behaved very well. Guests, Pelícano manager Luis Diz said, also left the venue swiftly at closing time and didn’t hang around in groups or carry on drinking outside, as some had feared they might.
Safety measures and protocols on trial included reduced capacity with attendees required to book in advance, CO2 level monitors inside the venues, masks at all times except while consuming drinks, and PCR tests for larger events and venues.
All in all, the Galician nightlife sector representatives reported, the results of the test were highly satisfactory.
