ARCHIVED - Heavy rain and storms expected across Murcia this Monday: September 20
The worst affected municipalities are expected to be in the coastal areas of Murcia
After a warm and sunny weekend, this week will start off with cloudy skies, rain and even weather warnings across the Region of Murcia on Monday night, September 20.
No rain is expected on Monday morning, with temperatures in the high 20s and cloudy skies across the whole region. However, light showers will start at around 2pm and continue throughout the afternoon, with storms and heavier rain expected in the evening.
The municipalities in the north west of the region will be the most affected with up to 20 litres per square metre falling in some areas, including Cieza, and some municipalities in the south west, such as Lorca and Águilas, which suffered from intense flooding just a few weeks ago, can also expect intense rain on Monday night.
The state meteorological agency, Aemet, has issued yellow and orange weather alerts for heary rain and storms from 9pm on Monday night, with the more serious orange warnings affecting the Vega del Segura, Campo de Cartagena and Mar Menor areas, as well as Mazarrón.
Aemet has also issued weather warnings across the region for the early hours of Tuesday morning, September 21, as the stormy weather is expected to continue into the following day.
Light showers are also expected across most of the region on Wednesday September 22 and Thursday September 23.
