ARCHIVED - Hooded armed men rob Los Alcazares restaurant and threaten to kill employee
The gang is believed to be responsible for a number of robberies in the Campo de Cartagena area, Murcia Region
Police are hunting three hooded men who, armed with sticks, forced their way into a restaurant in Los Alcázares where they assaulted a lone member of staff and threatened to kill him before fleeing with cash.
The terrifying robbery happened at around 1.15am on Tuesday morning, November 16, at Venta Puerto 3 located at kilometre 12 of the N-332.
At the time, there was only one member of staff on duty who told police he was watching videos on his mobile phone when he heard a noise. He went out to the front of the restaurant but before he could reach the door, was allegedly assaulted by three hooded men armed with sticks.
One of the men told him to get down on the floor, and threatened to kill him. Despite being terrified, the employee instead tried to back away, prompting one of the suspects to shout to the others "take out the gun, take out the gun".
The worker managed to escape through the kitchen door, and called the police. In the meantime, the trio fled in an unidentified vehicle.
According to police, the robbers got away with money from the cash register, the tobacco machine and a slot machine. A crowbar was found nearby.
The Guardia Civil believes the robbery could be the work of the same gang that targeted a confectionery store in San Pedro del Pinatar and other recent robberies in the Campo de Cartagena area.
