Intensive care admissions have decreased across Spain as the incidence rate creeps towards 700
The number of people hospitalised for coronavirus throughout Spain has increased by 3.9% in the last week, according to the latest data published by the Ministry of Health for Friday April 29, although the numbers have dropped in six communities (Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Catalonia, Valencian Community, Navarra and La Rioja).
In contrast, intensive care admissions have decreased by 2% in the same period.

The health authorities have registered 62,695 new Covid cases on Friday, a considerable increase on the 49,143 infections reported on the same day last week. Of these cases, 29,384 have been diagnosed in people over the age of 60 years.
This brings to 11,896,152 the total number of infections in Spain since the beginning of the pandemic.
Cumulative incidence rate
The 14-day incidence rate in people over 60 years now stands at 676.43 per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 608.16 on Tuesday. In the past two weeks, a total of 83,323 positives have been registered in this age group.
Madrid is once again the community with the lowest incidence rate, standing at 396.38 cases, followed by Andalucía (402.42 cases) and Catalonia (433.86 cases).
On the other end of the scale is Navarra, with a 14-day incidence rate of 1,440.42 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

There are currently 6,362 people hospitalised for Covid across Spain, 243 more than on the previous Friday, when 6,119 patients were recorded. However, the number of patients being treated in the country’s ICUs for more serious conditions has dropped from 339 a week ago to 329.
This means that the occupancy rate in hospitals has jumped up to 5.12% while 3.66% of intensive care beds are occupied by Covid patients.
229 more Covid-related deaths were added to Friday’s report which brings the overall death toll in Spain since the start of the health crisis to 104,456.
