Six Spanish men have been arrested in a major drugs bust
The Guardia Civil and the National Police in the Region of Murcia have carried out a joint operation that has culminated in the dismantling of a criminal organisation dedicated to the cultivation, processing and international distribution of marijuana. The investigation, which began in October last year, revealed the existence of a criminal network established in Murcia, with several marijuana plantations in Murcia city and Cartagena, that aimed to supply this drug on an international scale, exporting it to the United Kingdom.During months of investigation, specialised agents from both police forces discovered that the organisation used large refrigerated lorries transporting vegetables to the United Kingdom to hide large quantities of marijuana, perfectly vacuum-packed for distribution. The police operation came to a head in March when law enforcement carried out searches in homes and industrial warehouses in Cartagena, Murcia and Fortuna. In these raids, police seized 376 kilos of prepared marijuana buds and more than 600 marijuana plants, as well as hashish and vehicles used by the organisation.Six Spanish men have been arrested, accused of belonging to a criminal organisation, drug trafficking and electricity fraud.Image: Policía Nacional/Guardia Civil
