ARCHIVED - Irish teenager who was injured after botellon drinking session in Granada dies
A 16-year-old Irish girl who was severely injured in a fall in Granada last month on her way back from a ‘botellón’ (street drinking session) has sadly died.
The young exchange student fell from a height of five metres in the Fuente del Avellano area, down the hill from the Alhambra, and received attention from emergency service teams after a group of youngsters in the area called for help.
The teenager, who spent 10 days in an ICU at the Virgen de las Nieves hospital’s Neurotrauma unit, was unable to overcome her injuries and died last week, local media sources reported, adding that her body has been repatriated to Ireland.
