Jerez wine exports hit €100 million as Vinoble opens in the city
The sector grows by 4.2% and brings together wine experts from 40 countries for the big fair
Here's some good news for wine lovers in the area: the fine wine sector from around Jerez de la Frontera exported a whopping €100 million worth of wine in 2025. That's growth of 4.2%, which is no small feat. The UK remains the biggest fan, accounting for 25% of exports, followed by the Netherlands at 13% and the United States at 10%. If you've ever enjoyed a glass of Sherry in London, Amsterdam or New York, chances are it came from here.
The figures were announced at the opening of the 13th Vinoble International Wine Fair, which opened this Saturday in Jerez de la Frontera in the province of Cádiz. The fair is bringing together wine experts from 40 countries, and it's showing the strength of the sector.
Acting Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines Jorge Paradela pointed to the scale of the event. The fair is being held at the stunning Alcázar in Jerez, where 66 exhibition spaces are showcasing oenological gems from eight countries.
César Saldaña, president of the Regulatory Council, said Vinoble is "not only the ideal showcase for the wineries of Jerez and the entire Marco region to present their new products to the professional public every two years."
He added that it's also "an exceptional opportunity to learn about other regions that produce fine wines", describing them as places where wine is part of "the history, culture and true identity" of those territories.
Jerez mayor María José García-Pelayo used the occasion to stress the direct link between Jerez wines and the city's gastronomy, especially as Jerez has been named Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2026. Think about it – the perfect pairing of world-class wine and world-class food, all in one place.
Meanwhile, ICEX Spain Export and Investment is coordinating a reverse trade mission as part of Vinoble, running until Monday June 1. A reverse trade mission brings international buyers to Spain instead of sending Spanish companies abroad. The initiative brings together a select group of international professionals for a closer look at the world of Sherry and Manzanilla wines.
The programme has been organised with FEDEJEREZ and the Regulatory Council. Participants from markets including the United States, Canada, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador are taking part, alongside professionals from China, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Vietnam, Ireland, Portugal and Jordan.
They'll attend technical seminars, master tastings and visits to vineyards and wineries across the region. ICEX said the aim is to strengthen the profile of Spanish quality products in high-value markets and to ensure that influential international professionals return home as ambassadors for the uniqueness, versatility and history of Jerez and Manzanilla wines.
And that's a good thing for all of us who enjoy a quality glass of Sherry.
