Jet2 soars with top UK airline award and 27% more Gatwick seats to Spain
Which? names it best short-haul carrier for 11th year while summer seats to Balearics jump 10%
Great news if you are booking a UK-Spain trip this summer. Jet2.com has just been crowned the UK's top short-haul airline by Which?, earning Recommended Provider status for the eleventh year running. Customers praised its reliability, service, value and easy booking in a survey of over 7,000 flyers. One traveller said the process was simple because“Compared to other airlines, Jet2 gives you a generous luggage allowance, which makes such a difference.”Jet2 CEO Steve Heapy called it a proud moment,“Quality is at the heart of everything we do at Jet2.com, as we know how hard people work and save for their holidays. To receive this recognition from Which? is something we are extremely proud of.”The airline scored four stars for customer service, punctuality and no last-minute cancellations, thanks to its Red Team ground crew.
This accolade covers airlines plus Jet2holidays in six other categories like beach holidays and city breaks. It is the only UK short-haul carrier with the status.
More seats to your favourite Spanish spots
The timing could not be better, with Jet2 expanding flights from London Gatwick for summer 2027. In its second year there, capacity jumps 27% with 1.1 million seats to 35 destinations. Palma de Mallorca leads the Balearics boost, alongside extra flights to Ibiza, Málaga and Tenerife. Services start March 26 from the new base.
Gatwick CEO Pierre-Hugues Schmit welcomed the growth:“Jet2’s commitment to delivering great-value, high-quality holidays is a perfect fit for London Gatwick.”
Heapy added that demand has been“incredible, letting customers book early for summer 2027.Overall, Jet2 is upping Balearics seats by 10% this summer to nearly 1.5 million, peaking at over 300 weekly flights from 14 UK bases including Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol. Mallorca gets almost 890,000 seats (11% more), with 182 peak weekly flights. Ibiza sees 360,000+ and Menorca a 19% rise to 240,000. Jet2holidays pairs this with over 600 hotels.
For Brits either coming for a Spanish break or those living here and planning a visit home, more options from Gatwick and strong reliability make Jet2 a solid pick. And you can’t beat that luggage allowance either. So, where are you flying to next?
