After the disruption of the Covid pandemic over the last couple of years the La Mar de Músicas international music festival returns to Cartagena in the early summer of 2022, with a series of 41 artists performing between July 15 and July 23 at various venues in the city. The featured nation at this year’s event is the Dominican Republic.
On the opening day of the festival, Friday July 15, the schedule is as follows:
13.00: Laura Sam and Juan Escribano (Spain) perform their modern pop at the Real Club de Regatas, tickets 5 euros.
20.00: Xiomara Fortuna (Dominican Republic), the Queen of Fusion, in a free concert in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
21.30: Ed Maverick (Mexico) shared a Grammy with C. Tangana and brings his American and European fusion to the old patio of the CIM building. Tickets 15 euros.
23.00: The star turn of the day is the veteran Italian singer Zucchero, who has sold over 60 million discs throughout his career and has collaborated with artists of the stature of Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow, Paul Young, Brian Wilson, Mark Knopfler, Tom Jones and Bono. His greatest hit was Senza una Donna, and his concert in Cartagena is at the Auditorio Paco Martín in the Parque Torres. Tickets are priced at 35 euros.
Midnight: Vicente García (Dominican Republic) is described as a free talent, inspired by Motown and an acclaimed self-taught vocalist. Tickets for his concert in the Castillo Árabe are priced at 12 euros.
Tickets for all concerts are available online here: as of May 13 season tickets only are on sale, individual concert tickets will be available at a later date.
