ARCHIVED - Knife-wielding robber targets Alhama de Murcia petrol station
Staff from the Alhama de Murcia petrol station alerted the emergency services
On Saturday night, January 22, a criminal wearing a motorbike helmet and a face covering robbed a petrol station in Alhama de Murcia at knife point.
The thief managed to get away with all of the money in the cash register after threatening employees with a knife, though thankfully no one was hurt.
Staff were able to call the emergency services after the robber left and the case has been handed over to the Guardia Civil. According to witnesses, judging by his accent, the individual was Spanish.
The authorities are now searching for the culprit by reviewing security cameras from the petrol station and the surrounding area, hoping to identify the criminal.
Elsewhere in the Region of Murcia, thieves recently drove a car through a gas station window in the municipality of Librilla before robbing the premises and threatening a member of staff.
And these are not the only attacks on Murcia petrol stations; so far in 2022 three different stations in Molina, Murcia and Cartagena have been targeted by armed robbers.
