Last blast of summer makes way for cooler weather: Spain forecast Sept 25-28
The week ahead will have an autumn feel across Spain with passing storm fronts and rainy episodes
Minimum and maximum temperatures on Thursday September 28
Autumn has arrived in Spain with an authentic ‘Veranillo de San Miguel’, a last blast of summery weather that left balmy temperatures throughout the country over the weekend. Beginning this week, however, a succession of Atlantic storms will change the outlook considerably, with thermometers returning to normal values for mid-September and plenty of stormy episodes in the north.
The feast of San Miguel is celebrated on September 29 each year, and if the weather is unseasonably warm the Spanish say it is like ‘Saint Michael’s little summer’, which will certainly be the case this year.
Weather forecast for Monday September 25
The week will get off to a stable start with very little rain forecast on Monday September 25, with the exception of the northwest where overcast skies could lead to some weak showers. Temperatures will climb across the board, reaching the low 30s in the extreme south after a chilly start.
Weather forecast for Tuesday September 26
Pleasant weather is forecast for most of the country again on Tuesday September 26, although the approach of a mostly inactive Atlantic front will result in early morning cloudiness in Galicia and the possibility of some weak rainfall in Cantabria.
In the Mediterranean area, intervals of low morning clouds are expected and in the rest of the country, slightly cloudy or clear skies with bands of high clouds. Although it’s unlikely, some light rain could make its way further south in the afternoon, hitting inland southeast later in the day.
Few significant changes are expected temperature-wise.
Weather forecast for Wednesday September 27
The strengthening Atlantic fronts will bring slightly cloudy skies to much of Spain and the Balearic Islands on Wednesday September 27, as well as intervals of low morning clouds in the Mediterranean area. Rain is forecast across the northwest of the country which could spread to the entire north towards the afternoon.
Daytime temperatures in the south will continue to hover around the high 20s or low 30s while few changes are expected in the minimum temperatures.
Weather forecast for Thursday September 28
The entry of a new Atlantic front is likely to affect the northwest of Galicia on Thursday September 28, with cloudy intervals and the possibility of generally weak rainfall. Stable weather will prevail in the rest of mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands. The morning will begin rather overcast, particularly along the Mediterranean coast and in the northeast, but this will clear early on to slightly cloudy skies throughout.
Cloudy intervals are forecast in the north of the Canary Islands without ruling out some occasional rainfall in the south.
The mercury will tend to climb across the board, especially in the extreme west and southwest.
