ARCHIVED - Let it artificially snow: Fuengirola Christmas Market November 26 to December 19
No need to dream of a White Christmas this year as the town in Málaga will cover its Plaza de la Constitución with fake snow every Saturday
Snow is guaranteed in Fuengirola this Christmas as the town hall plans to create its own winter wonderland with artificial snow every Saturday evening starting from this weekend.
The Christmas Market in the Plaza de la Constitución in Fuengirola will be host to an artificial snowfall every Saturday at 7pm, while the market itself opens this Friday, November 26, at 8.30pm.
Fuengirola Town Hall has stated that the aim of this fake snow over the Christmas Market, which will be open to the public until December 19, is purely commercial: “to support the local business fabric and to encourage Christmas shopping in the city’s shops” rather than to spread Christmas cheer.
This Christmas Market will be made up of eighteen wooden huts, as in previous years, imitating “an authentic Christmas village” where shoppers can buy food, Christmas decorations and gifts. The opening hours will be morning and afternoon, from 10.30am to 2.30pm and from 5pm to 9pm.
In addition, said the town hall, “we have several new features, among them, we will once again offer two ecological children’s attractions, which will be located behind [the Christmas Market], so that while the adults are walking around, doing their shopping in the huts, the little ones are also having fun.”
