Little let-up in the heat: Spain weather forecast August 5-8
Daytime temperatures will touch 40°C in many parts of southern and inland Spain
Weather warnings on Monday August 5
The weather forecast in Spain for the next few days is fairly mixed, with the usual scorching temperatures in much of the country contrasting with showers and occasional storms and even some hail in the north and east.
Monday August 5
Most of the country will enjoy stable weather, with partly cloudy or clear skies. The north of Galicia, the Cantabrian Sea region and the upper Ebro may see some low clouds and morning fog.
In the afternoon, cloud cover will increase in the mountainous regions and surrounding areas, bringing potential showers and storms to the northeast and south.
Temperature-wise, highs will reach 35-40°C in many parts of the country, especially in the interior regions. Minimum temperatures will be on the rise in the central and northeastern areas, while most other regions will experience a very slight cool down.
Andalucía has once again been issued with an orange alert for extremely high temperatures while the Region of Murcia and the Valencian Community are on yellow alert.
Tuesday August 6
An Atlantic front will bring cloudy skies and light rain to northern Galicia and Asturias, moving eastward throughout the day. Elsewhere, expect a mix of cloudy skies and overcast intervals. In the afternoon, the eastern half of Spain will see cloud development, bringing showers and storms to the Pyrenees and eastern Iberia. These storms could be intense, with potential hail.
Maximum temperatures will remain unchanged, with highs still above 35°C, although the significant heat warning in Andalucía has been downgraded to yellow.
Wednesday August 7
Stable weather prevails across Spain on Wednesday, with partly cloudy or clear skies for the most part. Morning low clouds will give way to partly cloudy conditions in Galicia, the upper and lower Ebro, southern Valencia and the Strait.
Afternoon storms are possible in the mountains and surrounding areas of central and eastern Spain.
Temperature-wise, highs will start to drop in the Cantabrian Sea, eastern Spain and central regions of the Canary Islands. Night-time temperatures will remain unchanged for the most part. Many interior regions will still experience highs above 35°C, with some areas of the extreme south potentially reaching 40°C.
Thursday August 8
Spain will enjoy more settled weather on Thursday, with mostly clear skies. The western Cantabrian region may experience cloudy skies and light showers, clearing up in the afternoon. Afternoon storms are possible in the mountains and surrounding areas of the centre and southeast, especially in the Pyrenees, where hail may again accompany the storms in the eastern region.
Daytime temperatures will begin to climb in the north, while the rest of the country remains unchanged. Many regions will still experience highs above 36°C, especially on the southern Atlantic slope, the northern plateau, eastern depressions and the interior of Mallorca.
