Lorca prepares new Urban Development Plan
The plan will categorise the city’s land plots according to their current usage
People living in Lorca and business registered there may soon be able to rest easy as their properties are soon to be correctly labelled and categorised according to their current use and not according to a half-baked plan the was drawn up 20 years ago. This comes after the Town Hall of Lorca has agreed to develop a new General Urban Development Plan in order to “address a model of urban and territorial development that is adapted to the current reality and needs of the municipality of Lorca”.
This was announced by the Councillor for Town Planning in Lorca, María Hernández Benítez, in who said, “It is not necessary a review and modification, but the implementation of a new ‘General Plan of Municipal Management of Lorca’, since we are talking about a document that was approved 20 years ago, and today it is more than necessary to adapt the plan to the current urban and territorial idiosyncrasies.”
Crucially, she said that they would do so “with the participation of residents and agents and groups present in Lorca” so that it is a truly inclusive Urban Development Plan that takes into account the voices and needs of everyone in the locality.
The aim of the new plan is to “definitively correct the urban planning excesses” of the past so that they can align the stated uses of built areas in the city “with the reality of the current plots”.
