Los Alcazares Digital Camera Club
The Digital Camera Club of Los Alcázares is a social group for photography lovers in the Region of Murcia
From spectacular sunrises and sunsets to flamboyant fiestas, we are surrounded by fabulous photographic opportunities here in Los Alcázares and the surrounding area.
It’s no surprise then that there has been a camera club based in the town since 2006, when several keen photographers formed the Los Alcázares (LA) Digital Café. Fast forward to 2023, and the club remains a group of friendly, enthusiastic photographers now known as the Los Alcázares Digital Camera Club (LADCC).
By their own admission, the club offers:
- A warm welcome
- Practical workshops on camera skills and photo editing
- Competitions and challenges
- Photo shoots
- Signposts to learning and photo opportunities.
So far this year, they have organised mini-workshops on portrait lighting, rules of composition, night photography and black and white photography. Following each session, there is a related competition where members vote to select the winning images.
The two images above, both taken by Shaun Bradbury, were selected as the winners of the landscape competition. Members felt that these images, taken on the edge of the Parque Natural El Hondo bird sanctuary, were good examples of the guidance given on image composition.
Alongside the programme, the Los Alcázares Digital Camera Club is working on projects aimed at building relationships and connections within the local town and community.
Why not join in?
The LADCC invites both beginners and experienced photographers to join them as they learn more about different aspects of photography and photo editing.
The club meets on the first Tuesday of each month at the Las Claras Community Centre in Los Narejos 10.30am-12.30pm. They meet again, usually on the third Tuesday of the month, for a photo shoot at a location arranged by members.
There is more information available on the LADCC website
If you would like to join, please contact either Margaret or Richard. Alternatively, just come along to a meeting where you will be met with a warm welcome.

Share the pleasure of photography in the Mar Menor area
The Los Alcázares Digital Camera Club (LADCC) was founded in 2006 and was originally called the LA Digital Cafe, where members met over a coffee to discuss photography. This quickly developed into a more formal programme of monthly photo competitions and outings to places of photographic interest.
Over the years, the club has adapted to the changes in camera technology and techniques, and continued throughout Covid by using ‘Zoom’ for online meetings and learning sessions.
Fast forward to 2024, and the club is now a small, enthusiastic, friendly group where members encourage and support each other at the start of, and throughout, their photographic journey. The group includes a wide range of people with varying skills, all of whom are happy to share techniques, tips and ideas to improve one’s hobby.
They have monthly competitions and outings that provide an opportunity to explore different aspects of photography and develop camera craft and artistic skills. Their indoor sessions may include in-house training, reviews of monthly competitions or planning outings to cover topics discussed.
They meet once a month at the ‘Centro Cultural las Claras’ in Los Narejos, which has super facilities and ample parking. Any outings are usually towards the end of the month to link in with our regular competitions.
