Magaluf bouncers charged with attempted murder of French tourist
The doormen punched and kicked the holidaymaker unconscious at the Balearic Island resort
Two bouncers at a nightclub in the Balearic Island party hotspot of Magaluf have been arrested after violently beating three French tourists, the Guardia Civil reported on Monday July 24.
According to a French gendarme working in the municipality of Calvià, an argument broke out between the hospitality workers and one of the holidaymakers in the early hours of July 11.
During the altercation, a bouncer escorted the French man outside onto the street and punched him, knocking him unconscious. Shockingly, he then continued to kick the tourist in the head several times while he was on the ground.
A friend of the victim tried to intervene and he too was punched in the face by the doorman, while a third French man was also assaulted and thrown out of the nightclub by another bouncer.
The entire episode was caught on CCTV cameras, both inside the club and on the street.
Following the attack, all three tourists received medical attention and one was admitted to Son Espases hospital with serious head injuries.
After an investigation, the Guardia Civil of Calviá arrested the two bouncers, one Brazilian and the other Senegalese, on July 21. They were originally charged with assault but this has been upgraded to attempted murder given the ferocity of the assault and the extent of the injuries sustained by the victims.
One of the accused has been remanded in custody.
