ARCHIVED - Malaga airport bears the brunt of Ryanair strikes
A total of 129 flights have been cancelled during the first 3 days of Ryanair cabin crew strikes in Spain
The strike called by Ryanair cabin crew (TCP) in Spain got off to a promising start on Friday June 24 as the first day proceeded without a hitch, with 100% of flights operating as normal. Now, however, it is starting to cause concern at airports, with 75 flights cancelled on Saturday and another 180 delays.
The greatest impact across Europe was seen on Sunday June 26 as cabin crew in France, Belgium and Portugal joined in the industrial action, and another 54 flights to and from Spain were grounded, while a further 58 departures were seriously delayed.

Malaga airport was the most affected with a dozen departures and eight arrivals cancelled, in addition to six delayed flights. It was followed by Barcelona El Prat airport, with six departures and six arrivals cancelled, as well as eight delays. Likewise, the Palma de Mallorca airport accumulated more than a dozen delays and one departure and one arrival cancelled.
The worst could be yet to come, however, as another three strike days are planned by Ryanair staff on June 30 and July 1 and 2, of which two will coincide with easyJet work stoppages.
