Malaga finalises law against rowdy stag and hen parties
Revellers caught sporting obscene blow up dolls or only partly clothed could be fined 750 euros in the Costa del Sol city
Malaga has always been a hugely popular destination for stags and hens keen to soak up a bit of sun and enjoy the city’s bustling nightlife before their nuptials. But local residents have grown tired of the rowdy and often lewd behaviour of these revellers and their complaints hit the mark in February, when the City Council introduced a series of regulations aimed at stamping out raucous party groups.
Seven months later, on September 21, the authorities rubber stamped the legislation and from now on, walking the streets half naked or carrying blow-up dolls can be punished with fines of up to 750 euros.
Even before this, Malaga was trying to clean up its image and municipal regulations banned the use of megaphones and drinking alcohol on the streets – this, by the way, is against the law all across Spain.
From now on, stag and hen parties (and everyone else, for that matter), will be prohibited from walking around in underwear and carrying inflatable sex dolls or any inflatables that resemble genitals.
Anyone caught breaking the rules will first receive a warning from the police but if they fail to cover up or deflate their toys, they can receive a fine of up to 750 euros.
Following the announcement, the Malaga City Council explained that its objective is to "put a stop to some uncivil behaviours that may disrupt coexistence between residents" of the city and holidaymakers.
"The proliferation in recent years of certain behaviours associated with nudism, the exclusive use of underwear or erotic content in public spaces makes it advisable to provide the municipality with new regulations," the statement continued.
