March 5 Cartagena firefighters host Traffic Accident Rescue Championship
The event aims to enhance skills and improve emergency response services in Cartagena

This March 5, on the festival of San Juan de Dios, the patron saint of Firefighters, Cartagena’s emergency responders will celebrate with a unique event that could save many lives in the future.
The Cartagena Fire Station, in collaboration with the Public Safety School (ESPAC) and members of the Fire Extinguishing Service of the Cartagena City Council, Murcia City Council and the Regional Consortium, will host a traffic accident rescue championship and meeting.
This innovative event is designed to simulate real life rescue situations in traffic accidents, providing an opportunity for firefighters to enhance their skills and performance in a realistic setting.
All participants will receive hands-on training and have the opportunity to share best practices with their peers.
The primary objective of this event is to promote collaboration and knowledge exchange within the rescue community, ultimately improving the response capacity of the municipal fire department in emergency situations. By strengthening their skills and expertise, firefighters will be better equipped to respond effectively to traffic accidents, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
The main activities that will be carried out are the following:
- Rescue drills in accident vehicles.
- Extractions of victims trapped in different scenarios.
- Vehicle stabilisation and safety exercises.
