ARCHIVED - Masks will no longer be mandatory in opticians or orthopaedics in Spain
The requirement of facemasks on public transport will also be scrapped in Spain on February 7
The Spanish Ministry of Health has confirmed that from next week, facemasks will no longer be mandatory in health establishments such as opticians, audiometry centres or orthopaedics. This restriction will be removed, along with the need for a mask on public transport, on February 7.
Minister of Health Carolina Darias explained that the modification of the rule will be approved by the government next Tuesday and will enter into force when it is published in the Official State Gazette (BOE), which will foreseeably occur the following day.
However, for the time being, masks will continue to be mandatory in health centres, hospitals, nursing homes and other health and social care settings, for both staff and visitors, as well as in pharmacies.
