May 11 Free piano recital at the Casino of Mazarron
The 19th-century piano at the Casino in Mazarrón has been restored to prime condition
Following the recent restoration and refurbishment of the Casino in the centre of Mazarrón, the 19th-century piano which has been in the building since well over 100 years ago has now also been fully restored and it will be used in a concert for the first time this century on Saturday May 11.
The meticulous piano restoration has been completed by Víctor J. Martínez López, a Professor at the University of Murcia, and is now back in the building prior to the event on Saturday, which begins with a short talk on the process by which the instrument has been returned to prime condition. The recital then begins with pianist Luis Cantó Cuadrado playing pieces by Johannes Pachelbel, Domenico Scarlatti, Felix Mendelssohn, Lili Boulanger, Joaquín Turina, Isaac Albéniz and Enrique Granados.
The event in the Casino begins at 20.30 and admission is free of charge.
