ARCHIVED - Mazarron police hold open day and dog show to celebrate 150th anniversary
Local police in Mazarrón held an open day for families and an exhibition of its canine unit this Monday
This Monday, June 20, as part of the programme planned to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the creation of the local police of Mazarrón, the Policía Local held an open day where young people and adults could learn about the work they do and their police facilities. This was followed by an exciting exhibition of the canine unit of the local police force, where local families got to meet the Mazarrón police dogs.
The aim of the open day was to allow residents in Mazarrón, both children and adults, to come to the local police headquarters and see first-hand the work done by the officers of the municipality – both humans and dogs – and take a tour of the police station, even trying out how it feels to sit on a police motorbike and be a police officer.
One of the best parts of the day was when officers gave an exhibition of the canine unit and the dogs showed off what they could do, including their incredible smelling abilities to sniff out the location of certain materials and suspicious packages hidden in different boxes and cans.
Also as part of its 150th anniversary celebrations, the police are holding a fun run today, Wednesday June 22, which everyone is invited to join in.
