Metal fragments found in Lidl and Aldi cookies in Spain
Contaminated batches have been found in several regions including Andalucía and Murcia
The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has issued an urgent recall of several types of chocolate cookies due to the presence of metal fragments. The affected products were sold in Aldi and Lidl supermarkets across the country.
The recall was initiated after the European Food Alert Network (RASFF) received a notification from the Dutch health authorities. The affected brands include Cookies Aux Trois Chocolats (Arizona brand), Grandino triple chocolate (McEnnedy brand), and Nougatelli cookies (Sondey brand).
According to AESAN, the contaminated products have been identified in several regions, including Andalucía, Catalonia, the Canary Islands, Madrid, the Valencian Community, Galicia, the Basque Country and the Region of Murcia. However, it is possible that they may have been redistributed to other areas.
Consumers who have purchased these products are advised to check the batch number to determine if they have bought a contaminated product. If so, they should not consume it and return it to the store according to the distributor's instructions.
The Organisation of Consumers and Users (OCU) warns that consuming these cookies may cause abdominal, chest or throat pain, as well as fever and vomiting. Therefore, anyone who experiences such symptoms after eating these products should seek medical attention immediately.
