Mild temperatures alongside heavy rain: Spain weather forecast Dec 9-11
Persistent, heavy rain will fall in western Spain as the calm start to the week gives way to a wetter spell

Average temperatures expected on Thursday December 11
Spain has enjoyed several days of settled weather, with temperatures hovering around 20ºC in much of the country. Sadly, this pleasant pattern won’t last much longer. Aemet has announced that "the arrival of weather fronts will bring rain to the western half of the peninsula starting Tuesday or Wednesday," and that this rain will be "locally heavy and persistent."
However, the State Meteorological Agency also says temperatures will remain "mild for this time of year, without intense cold."
Tuesday December 9

Tuesday will start mostly calm across Spain. Many areas will see clear or partly cloudy skies, although low morning cloud will bring patches of fog to the south eastern coast and the Gulf of Cádiz.
A new front will move in during the day and shift cloud and rain gradually across the western half of the country. Rain will spread from west to east, reaching the north west quadrant, Extremadura and the western edge of Andalucia, and could push further inland later on.
Daytime temperatures will rise in most parts, remaining steady in the north east and north west.
Wednesday December 10

A second front is expected on Wednesday and will bring widespread cloud to the entire country. Some brighter spells may develop later in the north west. The front is not expected to reach the eastern coastline or the Balearic Islands, where skies should stay mostly clear with only thin high cloud.
Rain is likely across much of Spain, although it should be light or occasional in the far north west and is not expected in the eastern third. The heaviest rain is forecast for the south west, with a chance of thunderstorms in Huelva. These storms could also reach other parts of western Andalucia and Extremadura depending on how the front develops.
Maximum temperatures will fall across most of the country and the Canary Islands. The Balearic Islands, the Mediterranean coast and the north west will see little change, with highs approaching 20ºC.
Thursday December 11

Thursday should bring stable weather to most of mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, with clear skies and some morning fog.
However, another Atlantic front is due to reach the north west. Rain may also spread to other parts of western Spain later depending on how the front behaves.
Daytime temperatures will fall in the east of Spain but are expected to rise everywhere else. Night-time temperatures, however, will drop across the board.
