The figure of Cristo del Mar Menor, Christ of the Mar Menor, is one of the most important sculptures in the Mar Menor area, participating in the Via Crucis, the walk of the stations of the cross, during Semana Santa, Easter, each year.A tradition which began at the beginning of the 21st century in Lo Pagán, was to honour the figure in a special open air mass, in the Parque del Mar, alongside the explanada, held on the second to last Sunday of August. The mass is organised by the Hermandad del Santísimo Cristo del Mar Menor, and in 2013, whe the images were taken, attracted just over 1000 attendees.Every year: 2nd to last Sunday during August
