ARCHIVED - More freedom: updated Covid restrictions in Andalusia from this Thursday
Several cultural, religious and leisure venues in Andalucía will be allowed 100 per cent occupancy from September 16
Following a meeting with the Committee of Experts in Andalucía on Tuesday September 14, the regional authorities have announced a further relaxation of Covid restrictions as the fifth wave loosens its grip on the region.
Some of the new measures include increasing the number of customers per table from six to eight, both inside and outside, at nightlife venues in provinces in alert level 1 and 2. The same rules apply to bars and restaurants in the rest of the hospitality sector.
Beaches will also be reopened at nighttime after being closed to the public between 11pm and 7am for over a month.
Religious ceremonies will be able to return to relative normality, as indoor activities are allowed 100 per cent capacity, although the government asks that worshippers practice social distancing where possible, and religious processions can go ahead with a series of recommendations.
There are also more relaxed measures for childrens’ play areas; at alert level 1 the capacity has been expanded to 100 per cent outdoors and 75 per cent indoors, while for provinces and municipalities at alert level 2, maximum occupancy is 60 per cent in outdoor areas and 50 per cent inside.
Similar modifications have been made for sport centres (100 per cent outdoors and 75 per cent indoors at alert level 1) and sporting events and competitions can now take place until 1am.
Meanwhile, the maximum occupancy for cultural venues such as theatres, cinemas and auditoriums has been moved to 100 per cent at alert level 1. Zoos, aquariums and betting houses are allowed a maximum occupancy of 100 per cent outdoors and 75 per cent indoors at both alert level 1 and 2, while the permitted opening hours for these kinds of venues are the same as for the hospitality sector (until 2am).
As for the education sector, private and public universities in Andalucía will be allowed to carry out all academic activity in person and any selective tests can also go ahead in person, though preventative measures will need to be in place.
All of these new coronavirus restrictions announced by the regional government come into effect at midnight on Thursday September 16, replacing the previous measures from the beginning of September.
