More UK flights to AlmerÃa and Málaga with Jet2 for 2025
Both Jet2.com and easyJet are adding new flights and increasing capacity for this summer
British airline Jet2.com has announced its plans to expand services at Almería Airport for the summer 2025 season, increasing seat capacity to nearly 38,000. This follows its success in 2024, when it became the top airline in operations between the UK and Almería, carrying more than 33,000 passengers, an increase of 27% from the previous year.
The airline, which ranked as the fourth busiest at Almería’s El Alquián airport last year, is set to build on its growth by adding nearly 2,000 more seats to its summer schedule.
For the first time, Jet2.com will begin operations earlier than ever, launching flights on April 12, 2025. The airline will maintain its four direct routes to the UK, connecting Almería with Manchester, Bristol, Leeds and Birmingham, reaching a peak of eight weekly flights.
Jet2.com remains the exclusive operator for the Leeds and Birmingham routes, while it competes with other airlines on flights to Manchester and Bristol.
In 2024, the company increased its frequency from three to four direct flights between May and October. This year, it will reactivate all four routes in April to attract more British tourists, offering flight and hotel packages through its tour operator, Jet2holidays.
Since entering the Almería market in 2017, Jet2.com has played a crucial role in enhancing the airport’s connectivity with British destinations. In its first five years (2017–2021), the airline transported more than 150,000 passengers.
Despite recent growth, the company has yet to return to the ten-route schedule it offered in 2019, pre-Covid, when it also connected Almería with Newcastle, Edinburgh, East Midlands, Belfast and London airports.
Jet2.com currently operates from 13 UK bases, including Bournemouth, Bristol, Leeds-Bradford, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, London-Luton, London-Stansted, East Midlands, Belfast, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The airline serves 14 Spanish airports, covering popular destinations such as Alicante, Barcelona, Gran Canaria, Ibiza and Málaga.
Also this year, Jet2 is reinforcing its presence on the Costa del Sol, announcing an expanded offering of 415,000 seats for the coming high season. This includes 20,000 additional bookings to and from Málaga Airport.
A key part of this expansion is the launch of a new route between Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Málaga, set to begin on March 4, 2025. The increase in capacity is partly attributed to this new connection, which will contribute to the airline's peak of 72 weekly flights to the Costa del Sol during the summer season.
Málaga Airport remains Jet2’s fourth most active Spanish hub out of the 14 airports where it operates.
Also at Málaga Airport, Ryanair has announced a new route with Teesside Airport in Darlington, slated to start on March 31, 2025. Flights will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays until late October, catering to demand for a direct connection to the Costa del Sol.
New easyJet Almería routes 2025
Meanwhile, British low-cost airline easyJet has announced a new direct route between Bristol Airport and Almería for summer 2025. This connection, part of the airline’s seasonal expansion plan, will commence on June 24, with flights operating twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
It comes just a month after easyJet confirmed it will also introduce flights between Almería and London Luton from June 2025. The airline already operates routes from Almería to London Gatwick and London Southend.
Additionally, Almería Airport is set to expand its international reach further, with new flights planned to Budapest (Hungary) in 2025, marking another step in the airport’s gradual growth.
