Mostly dry, bright and warm this week: Spain weather forecast April 15-18
Temperatures will remain more typical of May or June in most of Spain this coming week
Temperatures expected on Wednesday April 17
The week ahead is set to bring temperatures more typical of May or early June to much of Spain as the pleasant anticyclonic weather continues. However, as the days go by there is a chance that a DANA storm (Isolated Depression at High Levels) could arrive from the Atlantic Ocean, accompanied by a trough over the northeast of Spain and the Balearic Islands.
Although unclear at present, some predictions suggest that the DANA may move closer to the mainland, resulting in unsettled conditions in its southwestern. However, current forecasts are divided, as the European model does not yet indicate such proximity for the DANA.
Meanwhile, the majority of Spain can expect a predominantly dry week according to weekly precipitation trend maps. It should be noted, however, that these rainfall projections remain subject to change based on how the evolving situation with the incoming DANA unfolds.
Monday April 15
Monday will be cloudy in the north, where weak rain and the occasional storm is forecast. The rest of the country will be mostly clear but storm clouds will gather in the afternoon inland and in the southeast. The northeast of Andalucía and parts of Castilla-La Mancha have been placed on alert for heavy rain from 3pm.
Temperatures are on the rise in southern Spain.
Tuesday April 16
The winds will begin to pick up on Tuesday, and yellow weather warnings for strong gusts have been issued in the Valencian Community, Aragón and Catalonia for the whole day.
A humid air flow will impact the north but weather in the rest of the country should remain predominately dry and bright.
Daytime temperatures could drop by a degree or two in the northeast and in the Canary and Balearic Islands but in the rest of the country the temperatures will be much higher than usual.
Wednesday April 17
The wind warnings remain in place in Catalonia and the Valencian Community and they have been extended to the Balearic Islands for the early half of Wednesday. In the rest of the country, morning showers and cloudiness should clear to a mostly bright afternoon.
However, the mercury will drop in most of the country, more noticeably in the southeast of Spain, Málaga and Mallorca.
Thursday April 18
The weather will settle down again on Thursday, with mostly clear skies forecast and a chance of light rain in inland areas early on.
In the afternoon, cloudiness is expected to develop in the extreme south with the possibility of an occasional shower.
Daytime temperatures will climb again in northern Spain but temperatures will continue to fall elsewhere, especially in Andalucía.
For Thursday, there will be yellow weather alerts for high winds and rough seas in A Coruña, Cádiz and Tarragona, and an orange warning for the same in Ampurdán, Catalonia.
