Murcia Corvera Airport all summer flight destinations 2024: See the full list here
Consult the full schedule of flight destinations available from Murcia airport this summer and when they start
The summer high season of flights at the Region of Murcia International Airport begins near the end of March, and runs until mid-October. During this period, there are always more places you can fly to and from than in the autumn/winter season.
In 2024, there will be 23 flight destinations between the Region of Murcia and other domestic and international airports. That’s four more than in the 2023 summer flight season thanks to new routes that have been added to airports in Spain and Portugal.
It is hoped that with the gradual introduction of new flight routes and increased investment, the airport will finally be able to beat the passenger numbers it had in 2019, though it is still a long way off coming close to the numbers that passed through the terminal at the old San Javier airport.
In an effort to improve transport links between the airport and other parts of the Region, Murcia authorities plan to introduce expanded bus lines connecting Corvera airport with the bus stations in Cartagena and Murcia city.
While the number of airports linked to the Region of Murcia goes up this year, the number of countries available is actually going down from seven to six.
While most of the summer schedule kicks into gear starting in late March, the full flight roster is not fully complete until July 2024.
New flight connections for 2024 include charter flights to Oporto (Portugal), operated by Soltour between July and September, though there will only be one flight a week. It is intended as a pilot programme and, if successful, could be carried on in successive summers.
Other major new flight routes are the planes flying to Madrid and Barcelona, which started last December and will now run all year round. Flight connections to Bilbao airport will also be making a comeback this summer.
On the other hand, Ryanair will stop operating its flights to Palma de Mallorca, so that from Murcia it will be necessary to fly to Menorca to reach the Balearic Islands.
Even so, the total number of domestic flights within Spain rises to seven in total – including Oviedo, Santander and Gran Canaria – two more than the five there were in summer 2023.
Nonetheless, the United Kingdom remains the main bastion of the airport’s connections. All nine of last year’s flight routes between Murcia and the UK – Bournemouth, East Midlands, Glasgow, Bristol, London Stansted, London Luton, Birmingham, London Gatwick and Manchester – are back again this year, though no new UK flight destinations have been added.
Also back for another summer are the flights to Dublin (Ireland), Casablanca (Morocco), Antwerp and Bruges/Ostend (Belgium).
For now, it seems that will not be repeated in 2024 are the flights to Prague and Brno (Czech Republic), despite comments by the Regional Minister of Tourism to that effect, and the charter flights to Cairo (Egypt).
In terms of how many flights there are a week, the UK remains the unbeaten leader with Murcia flights up to six days a week from London and an increased number of weekly flights to Glasgow Prestwick Airport. In fact, outside the UK and Ireland, only the Canary Islands have three weekly routes.
