ARCHIVED - Murcia on yellow alert as storm Celia arrives in Spain: weather forecast March 14-17
Strong gusts and adverse coastal phenomena will batter the Region at the beginning of the week
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow weather warning for the Region of Murcia on Monday March 14 and Tuesday March 15 due to strong gusts and dangerous sea conditions. Storm Celia is expected to hit Spain this week bringing heavy rain and unsettled weather to most of the country, although the worst of the downpours are expected to miss the Region.
Monday is set to dawn with cloudy skies and scattered showers that will ease off towards the afternoon. Strong easterly and south-easterly gusts have put the Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón on alert between 6pm and midnight, with a strong possibility of waves up to three-metres high. Little change is expected on Tuesday, although light afternoon rain can’t be ruled out.
The temperatures will range from a pleasant 18 to 22ºC on March 14 and 15.
Looking ahead, there are no weather alerts in place for the remainder of the week, although Aemet has warned that the incoming storm is behaving unpredictably. The mercury will drop considerably on Wednesday, registering maximums of 19ºC, while persistent showers could be accompanied by the occasional storm through until Thursday March 17.
