New storm brings rain and falling temperature: Spain weather forecast Sept 21-24
An Atlantic front will sweep across Spain from Thursday leading to a wet and cool start to the weekend
Towards the end of the week an Atlantic storm will sweep the country from west to east, leaving abundant rain in its wake in much of the country. The wet spells will be strong and persistent in large parts of northern Spain but should lose intensity further southeast, so the weather will remain mostly pleasant in the Mediterranean and the Balearic Islands.
The approaching storm will also bring a dramatic temperature drop, and the State Meteorological Agency expects the mercury to remain between 5 and 10ºC below normal for this time of year.
Thursday September 21
The strongest storms will land in Galicia and western Cantabria on Thursday while southern Spain will remain largely dry with slightly cloudy skies. As the front passes, clearings will begin to open up northwest to southeast, although there’s still a good chance of less intense showers in the north.
Daytime temperatures will continue to hover around the low 30s in the Mediterranean but will fall in the rest of the country, most notably in central and northern Spain.
Yellow weather alert for adverse sea conditions: Andalucia, Asturias, Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Galicia, Basque Country.
Friday September 22
The instability is expected to persist on Friday throughout the country but the north will again bear the brunt, with cloudy skies and heavy rain forecast. Occasional storms are also likely in the Balearic Islands and in mountainous areas of the south and east of Andalucia early on. This will clear as the day goes on but it will be a slightly cloudy day across the country.
Temperatures will generally tend to decrease, except in the Canary Islands and western Spain, where the thermometers will creep up by a few degrees.
Yellow weather alert for adverse sea conditions: Andalucia, Asturias, Cantabria (additional warning for rain), Galicia, Basque Country.
Saturday September 23
As we enter the weekend proper the weather should start to improve and Saturday promises to be dry for the most part, if a little cloudy. However, some instability may still persist, with a cloudy environment and a probability of precipitation on the eastern Cantabrian coast, and with less probability in the interior of eastern Cantabria, the Pyrenees, eastern Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.
Maximum temperatures will tend to increase across the board, except in the Mediterranean area, where they will experience slight decreases that may become moderate in the Balearic Islands. The minimum temperatures decrease across the country and the Balearic Islands, with the probability of weak and isolated frosts in the Pyrenees.

Sunday September 24
The outlook continues to improve on Sunday and mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands can expect slightly cloudy skies and another completely dry day. Intervals of low morning clouds are forecast in the southeast, eastern Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, the Basque Country and the western coast of Galicia.
Daytime temperatures will continue to climb although few changes will be recorded in the Mediterranean.
