ARCHIVED - Norwegian to continue flying from Alicante and Malaga following restructuring
The airline has confirmed that it will continue to operate from Alicante airport following a bankruptcy restructuring
Norwegian airline has finished preparing the structure of its short-haul operations in Spain for the post-Covid period and announced that it will be maintaining its service from Alicante airport.
The airline filed for bankruptcy protection in November 2020 as a result of the devastating effects of the Covid pandemic and has discontinued its long-haul services, but restructured to handle only short-haul flights.
Norwegian will also continue to fly from Málaga airport in the Costa del Sol, and run flights to its other destinations in Spain with crews based in Scandinavia.
Specific details on routes and schedules will be announced as soon as they are available.
Spain and Scandinavia are the only two places where the airline will be maintaining its operational bases for the time being (the main base in Spain will be in Málaga), but it has stated that it is fully committed to staying in Spain where it has been operating for the last 18 years.
