Nov 27-Dec 4 Disabled-friendly activities and events in Aguilas
The town council, together with the local associations, has developed a wide program of activities for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities
In recognition and celebration of the UN’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the town of Águilas in southern Murcia will be hosting a series of events and activities over the course of more than a week specifically aimed at disabled people.
The Councillor for Inclusion of the Águilas Town Council, José Antonio Consentino, who presented the programme of activities, said, “With the celebration of this day, as well as with our continued work, we want to promote the rights and well-being of people with different abilities in all areas of our society.”
Here is the full programme of activities taking place over next week in Águilas for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities:
- Monday November 27: Zumba workshop organised by Águilas Down and the Águilas Plaza Shopping Centre.
- Tuesday November 28: Cultural visit and physical activity organised by the Railway Residence and ADIA.
- Wednesday November 29: Sports activity and gymkhana organised by the Urci Occupational Centre.
- Thursday November 30: Closing of ‘Senior Week’ organised by the Railway Residence; and a crafts workshop organised by the Happy Breastfeeding Association.
- Friday December 1: Socio-health associations fair, including a reading of the manifesto, a dance activity by Goyi Vera and recycling activities by Ecoembes. A gastronomic stand from the Adult Education Centre will also be installed, all activities beginning at 10am.
- Saturday December 2: Specially adapted fairground attractions. Organised by the Fair Trade Association.
- Sunday December 3: Solidarity Dorsal Walk. Organised by Urci Occupational Centre. Sales made in the centre itself or half an hour before departure.
- Monday December 4: Adapted physical activity with the participation of open classrooms in local centres and nursing homes. Organised by Afemac and the TESEAS of the IES Europa.
It should be noted that, for several weeks now, activities related to the International Day of People with Disabilities have also been taking place in the local educational centres.
Participating in these activities will be the organisations Afemac, C.O. Urci, Fundown, Asteamur, AEPMI, Águilas Down, Fibromialgia Águilas, ADIA, Hospitalidad de Lourdes, TESEAS Europa, Adult Education Center, AECC, Breastfeeding and Happy Parenting, Open classrooms at Las Lomas, El Rubial and Joaquín Tendero schools and the Railway residence.
