Oprah Winfrey's Spanish picks for your Christmas gift list
Crisps and olive oil from Spain have made the coveted ‘Oprah’s Favourite Things’ list for Christmas 2024
Spain is renowned for its exceptional cuisine and its culinary gems continue to win hearts worldwide. While delicacies like Iberian ham and fine wine are celebrated globally, Oprah Winfrey has recently highlighted two other Spanish treats that have captured her taste buds: potato chips from Galicia and premium olive oil from Toledo.
Both have earned spots on her coveted ‘Oprah’s Favourite Things’ list for 2024 as must-have gifts this Christmas.
Bonilla potato chips from Galicia
"Believe me, I know chips. And these, from Galicia (Spain), are worth the effort," Oprah says.
These crisps, widely considered the best in the world, are fried in olive oil to achieve a perfect lightness and crispiness. They are delicious on their own or, as snack fans will attest, just as tasty with a dip.
"They will thank you for pampering them," she adds.
With such a glowing endorsement, it’s no wonder Bonilla chips have soared in popularity, with fans seeking them in gourmet shops far beyond Spain.
Whether you’re enjoying them as a standalone snack or pairing them with your favourite dip, these chips are a delightful treat that will win over any guests to your home this Christmas.
Flor de Jara Picual olive oil
Joining the chips on Oprah’s list is Flor de Jara Picual extra virgin olive oil, a delicacy crafted in the olive groves of Toledo by a third-generation family business. Known for its peppery, delicate flavour, this oil is perfect for elevating salads or drizzling over warm bread.
“You can practically taste Spain in this olive oil,” Oprah says, highlighting its versatility and premium quality. Much of this high-end oil’s production ends up gracing gourmet markets in New York, making it a must-try for foodies everywhere.
Thanks to Oprah’s annual list, these Spanish products are now enjoying global recognition. From the savoury crunch of Bonilla chips to the rich, golden essence of Flor de Jara olive oil, Spain continues to shine as a culinary powerhouse around the world.
