Orange warning for extreme temps: Alicante weather forecast Aug 1-4
The weather alert for boiling temperatures has been upgraded to ‘significant’ in inland Alicante
Weather alerts in Alicante province on Thursday August 1
The coming weekend will be marginally cooler in Alicante province but before this reprieve, we’ll have to endure more scorching temperatures as certain inland points are tipped to exceed 40ºC over the next couple of days.
It’s precisely here that firefighters have been battling a blaze that broke out on Tuesday July 30 and has already scorched through more than 300 hectares of land. The extreme temperatures have led the regional government to declare an extreme level of pre-emergency for risk of forest fires in the north of the province and a high level in the south.
Thursday August 1
The first of the month will be mostly bright and sunny with similar temperatures to the rest of the week.
Light variable winds are forecast, tending to southeast in the afternoon.
An orange weather alert for extreme heat has been activated by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) in the interior of the province, while yellow warnings are in place along the northern and southern coasts.
Friday August 2
Both daytime and night-time temperatures will drop on Friday, and Aemet has removed all of the weather alerts.
It will be a bit cloudy along the coast, especially in the afternoon, and there’s a chance of showers and even thunderstorms inland later in the day.
A light variable wind is expected, tending to easterly in the afternoon with moderate intervals.
Saturday August 3
The weather outlook is very similar for Saturday, although the likelihood of rain is virtually zero. Daytime temperatures will continue to fall in the south of the province.
Light variable winds forecast, tending in the afternoon to light east and southeast with intervals of moderate on the coast.
Sunday August 4
It will be mostly clear again on Sunday with the exception of inland areas of northern Alicante, where more overcast skies could lead to scattered afternoon showers.
No real change is expected temperature-wise and the easterly winds will be a lot more breezy in coastal areas.
Minimum and maximum temperatures forecast this weekend
- Thursday August 1: Min 24ºC; Max 40ºC
- Friday August 2: Min 21ºC; Max 36ºC
- Saturday August 3: Min 21ºC; Max 34ºC
- Sunday August 4: Min 21ºC; Max 35ºC
