Parking in Cartagena, Locations and heights of Underground car parks
Where to park in Cartagena Spain, Public Car Parks.
There are several options for parking in Cartagena, all of which give easy access to both tourist attractions, cultural centres or shopping areas.
There is on-street parking throughout the city, but as spaces are limited it is easier, and safer, to use the public car parks when spending time within the city, particularly if you are unfamiliar with the city layout, and at nighttime, as with any city environment, youll find the carparks a safe environment in which cars can be left without fear of break-ins.
There are six underground car parks:
Aparcamiento del Puerto, Paseo de Alfonso XII
Open 24 hours a day, with 600 places in total.
Height Restriction 2 metres.
This car park is right in the main port area and is easily accessed, being right along the edge of the port, a straight and easy drive in. It is the closest car park to the Roman Theatre Museum, Plaza del Ayuntamiento and ideal for access to the main shopping streets.

Aparcamiento de la Plaza del Rey, Calle Real
Open 24 hours a day, with 179 free spaces
Height Restriction 1.8 metres
This car park is just around the corner from the port car park, so is an ideal second choice if the port is full for those wishing to visit the Roman Theatre Museum or historical centre. It is ideal for the shopping streets of Puertas de Murcia and the CIM polytechnic building. This is a car park for those with wheelchairs as the lift goes straight up into the Plaza and is very easy to find, being on a main route through Cartagena.

Aparcamiento Los Portales de la Lonja
Open 24 hours a day, with 205 spaces.
Height restriction 2.05m
The nearest parking for the Cuartel de Artilleria, Military Museum. Close to Mercadona supermarket.
Click for map. This one is a bit odd. The click goes to the Museo Militar. This carpark is just a scrap higher, towards Carlos III and doesnt show on the map, but is definately there. It appears on the official town hall map, but is in a different location altogether on the website, so weve photographed it where we found it.
Normal charges are 0.03 euros per minute, ie 3 euros for 100 minutes. Charges will be clearly shown at the entrance.
In addition, there are two areas in which vehicles with height difficulties are able to park, although these are not official parking areas. Obviously, you leave your vehicle at your own risk In both of these places, immigrant lads will try to help park the vehicle and ask for money. Our honest advice would be to say youll pay something if the car is ok on your return, then pay one or two euros, never more, as the official rates for underground car parks are 3 euros for 100 minutes. Theres fierce competition between the lads for these spaces, and youll be pounced on like a hawk for the payment on your return, so be assured, the cars are being watched!
By the New Town Hall, Calle de Sor Francisca Armendáriz
There is a large patch of waste ground opposite the new Town Hall. This is extremely irregular and bumpy, so be careful. Its a very useful place to park if you want to go to The MURAM art museum, the Punic Wall Interpretation centre, or if heading into the central hacienda offices , Plaza Francisco ( main post office) or the top end of the shopping streets.

By the office for foreigners, practically opposite to the new Congress Centre.
Probably the best place for camper vans to park as this gives access straight into the historic centre and the ground is flat, so easier for camper vans to park and manoeuvre. Its marked on the map as Caoitania Maritima de Cartagena, but the area runs behind it, along the bottom of the wall.
A good place to park for the Civil War Air Raid Shelter, Panoramic lift, Trafico, or Parque Torres.
