ARCHIVED - Pensioner rescued on Playa de la Isla beach, Mazarron after nearly drowning
The man, around 70 years old, was swimming in the sea near Mazarrón when he nearly drowned this weekend
Emergency services were called out to attend to a pensioner on the Playa de la Isla beach in Mazarrón this Saturday, September 17, after he nearly drowned.
Several calls were made to the Emergency Coordination Centre 112 Region of Murcia alerting them to the incident, with callers saying that a man had been pulled from the water with difficulty breathing. According to the callers, they were performing CPR manoeuvres.
Medical staff reported that once the man, of approximately 70 years of age, was stabilised, he was transferred to the Santa Lucía Hospital in Cartagena to be treated.
Just a couple of weeks earlier, a 57-year-old woman was rescued after being pulled unconscious from the water at Santiago de la Ribera’s Castillicos beach in the municipality of San Javier.
