ARCHIVED - Pilot of DGT helicopter crashed in Madrid arrested after testing positive for drugs
The professional Spanish pilot was under the influence of cocaine and amphetamines at the time of the accident

The pilot of a Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) helicopter has been arrested following a frightening crash in the Madrid town of Robledo de Chavela on Sunday March 5. Shortly after 11am, the Europter 355N plummeted to the ground at kilometre 2 of the M-512 motorway.
The Guardia Civil have now detained the pilot of the DGT aircraft for a crime against air safety after he tested positive for cocaine and amphetamines.
Both the suspect and a Traffic official who was also on board miraculously escaped serious injury in the crash. Later, official reports confirmed that neither of the two detainees are members of the Guardia Civil, whose officers were responsible for carrying out the breathalyser at the scene of the accident.
