ARCHIVED - Prizewinning images capture the soul of Andalusia; photography competition Roquetas de Mar, Almeria
A jury has chosen their five favourites images from an annual photography competition in Roquetas de Mar in Almeria
The winners of this year’s ‘Andalucia en Cliche,’ a competition encouraging entrants to submit their photos of any place or activity in Andalucia, have been announced at an awards ceremony at the Castillo de Santa Ana in Roquetas de Mar.
The first prize of €700 was awarded to Jose Lara for his work ‘Walks through the Jewish Quarter'
Second prize, ‘Painting roads,’ was won by Isabella Pelaez
Third place went to Fernando E. Fosatti for ‘The Costalero’s prayer'
The ‘Accesit de la Provincia' award was won by Miguel Vargas for ‘El Emigrante'
The ‘Accesit Madeluz’ prize was won with ‘Danza Alpujarreña’ by Gabriel Montes
The Castillo de Santa Ana will now play host to two exhibitions related to the competition, including one displaying photographs from the last five years’ winners and other best photographs from the past five years.
Another exhibition will display a sample of images from last exhibition of the ‘Jesus de Perceval’ competition called ‘Eco-science.’
The exhibitions can be visited, in line with health measures, until June 7 from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm and from 5 pm to 8 pm, and on Sundays from 11 am to 1 pm.
The Andalucia en Cliche contest has been running for 20 years, managed by Roquetas de Mar council and photographic association Masdeluz in Almeria.
