PSOE retain their majority in the 2023 municipal elections in Aguilas The results of the municipal elections which were held throughout Spain on Sunday May 28 have shown a pronounced general swing in favour of the PP and Vox parties, but in Águilas that swing was not enough to prevent the PSOE from retaining their absolute majority in the council.

Of the 21 seats available in the council 11 were claimed by the PSOE (two fewer than in 2019) and 7 by the PP (one more than four years ago), while Vox succeeded in raising their representation from 1 to 3. Ciudadanos, who won one seat in 2019, did not take part in the 2023 election.

As a result, barring hugely unexpected developments Mayoress Mari Carmen Moreno will be returned to office for her third term on June 17.
