ARCHIVED - Rain and snow forecast in Spain on November 4
Temperatures continue to drop throughout Spain on Thursday
As Spain creeps slowly towards winter, there is a huge disparity in weather patterns throughout the country with much of the south still experiencing sunny days while the northern half of the Peninsula is battered by driving rain. The unsettled conditions are set to continue on Thursday November 4 with ten provinces on alert, according to the State Meteorological Agency, Aemet.
On a day marked by heavy and sometimes persistent rainfall on the Cantabrian coast, Asturias, Cantabria, Guipúzcoa, Vizcaya, Barcelona, Mallorca and Menorca are all at risk of flooding and storms while Girona and Tarragona have been put on alert for adverse sea conditions also. For its part, a snow warning has been issued in León.
While Aemet has already warned of a severe drop in temperatures in much of Spain, Thursday will see cloudy skies and heavy rain in Galicia, Cantabria and the western part of the Pyrenees. Persistent cloudiness is also expected in the Balearic Islands, the Gulf of Valencia and the northeast of Catalonia, while storms haven’t been ruled out as the day goes on.
The largest amount of snow is expected to fall in the Cantabrian mountains and the Pyrenees, but a flurry is also possible to the southeast of the Andalucían mountains. The day will begin foggy in central and northern Spain, but this will dissipate throughout the day.
As temperatures continue to decrease throughout the week, weak frosts are expected in mountainous areas while northerly winds will continue to blow across the entire country.
